Barbara’s practice focused on sophisticated real estate transactions. She provided high level strategic counsel and transactional support to private developers and public institutions and assisted clients with some of the region’s largest and most complex real estate projects.

Barbara was a fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Each year from 2003 to 2023, she was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and by Chambers USA as an industry leader in real estate. She has been listed as one of Oregon’s top 25 women lawyers in Oregon Super Lawyers. She has been listed as one of Oregon’s top 50 real estate lawyers in Oregon Super Lawyers and in Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition. Barbara held an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell® from 1994 until her retirement.

Barbara was a frequent speaker on real estate matters to attorneys, real estate brokers, and property managers. She planned and participated in several continuing legal education programs for attorneys. Barbara served as a member of the Advisory Board of Portland State University’s Center for Real Estate for six years. She was the Chair of the Real Estate and Land Use Section of the Oregon State Bar Association from 1994 to 1995 and was an active member of its Executive Committee from 1989 to 1996.

The Portland Business Journal presented Barbara with a 2010 Orchid Award as one of the region’s top 25 women in business. She received the Affiliate Award from the Commercial Association of Realtors Oregon/SW Washington in 1996. In 1997, she received a “Forty Under Forty” award from the Portland Business Journal, which annually recognizes emerging business leaders with notable accomplishments and a commitment to community service.

Barbara served as a member of the Board of Directors of DePaul Industries for two years and a board member of the Ronald McDonald House for six years. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Clackamas Women’s Services and a volunteer for SMART (Start Making a Reader Today).
